Repairs Underway After Major Gas Leak

Work is continuing to repair a large gas main that burst in a field off the A6  outskirts of Market Harborough.

There was a strong smell of gas in the area near the McDonald’s roundabout that prompted a number of people to report the issue to Cadent Gas.

A spokesman told Hfm the leak affected a large medium-pressure pipe, which is thought to have been caused by ‘wear and tear’ over the years.

No gas supplies are being affected and as the pipe is located in a field, traffic is not being affected.
