Reckless Dumping Of Disposable Gloves Could Spread Covid-19

People throwing disposable gloves on the floor in car parks across Harborough are being warned it could spread Coronavirus and they face a £150 fine if caught.

It has become an issue during the Coronavirus pandemic, as many people are wearing gloves to protect themselves when shopping, but some are not disposing of them safely.

Environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy has warned the habit could lead to a spread of Covid-19.

Patrols of car parks are now being stepped up, with people being warned they will face a fine if seen dropping gloves, or any items of litter on the floor.

Harborough Council Leader Phil King spoke to Hfm:

A spokesman for Harborough District Council told Hfm: “Our clean-up crews have noticed that disposable gloves are being discarded on car parks in the district.

“If you use them, please dispose of plastic gloves safely in a litter bin or your black bin at home.

“Anyone caught dropping litter can be fined £150.”
