Reassurance From Police After Stabbing

The High Street was closed by Police

Police are offering reassurance that Market Harborough town centre is a safe place to visit after a man was stabbed on the High Street on Friday night.

Officers say they are treating the incident as isolated, and the victim and suspect knew each other.

The adult male victim, whose age has not been revealed by Police, remains in hospital with ‘non life-threatening’ injuries.

He suffered a serious stab wound to the chest after being attacked outside Flames takeaway just before 7pm.

A 20-year-old man from Leicester was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses and are particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw events leading up to the incident.
