Railway Bridges Demolished As Track Upgrade Continues

Three railway bridges have been demolished as part of work to electrify the tracks through the Harborough area.

Work to flatten the structures near Great Glen, Braybrooke and Newton Harcourt has taken place over the past two weekends, with the line closed to trains to allow it to take place.

The bridges will now be re-constructed, to allow for overhead wires to be installed, and a key piece of the new structure is now in place Station Road near Great Glen.

Network Rail is carrying out the work as part of the current phase of the electrification between Market Harborough and Wigston.
