Quarry Operator Loses Bid For Early Start

The operator of Husbands Bosworth Quarry has been refused permission to run lorries out of the site from 6am.

Villagers objected to an application to allow up to ten HGVs to exit the site on the A5199 an hour earlier than currently allowed, saying it would create noise disturbance.

Parish councils in the area were also against the idea.

Councillors who considered the proposal at a meeting of Leicestershire County Council backed a recommendation by planning officers in turning down the request.

The quarry’s operator Mick George Ltd said the move would have allowed it to better serve the construction industry and limit HGVs in the area during peak traffic hours.
