Prisoner Injured In Incident At HMP Gartree

A prisoner has been taken to hospital after an incident at Gartree Prison.
East Midlands Ambulance Service and the Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance were called to the jail near Market Harborough, just before 9.30am today.
No details about the incident have been released, but a Prison Service spokesperson told HFM: “An ambulance was called as a precaution after an incident involving a prisoner at HMP Gartree.
”There are no serious injuries and the prisoner is now stable.”
The Air Ambulance landed in a field opposite the prison on Gallow Field Road, although the male prisoner was conveyed to hospital by land ambulance.
A spokesperson for East Midlands Ambulance Service said: ”We received a call at 9.26am on 26 January to HM Prison Gartree.
”The caller reported a medical emergency. We sent a crewed ambulance and the air ambulance was also in attendance.
”One person was taken to hospital via crewed ambulance.”
