Prison Officials Hosting Information Event Today

A drop-in event will take place this afternoon ahead of the building of a ‘super-prison’ near Market Harborough.

The Ministry of Justice is hosting the information event at Market Harborough Methodist Church between 3pm and 8pm, to share latest details and give people the chance to question officials.

Work is underway on the site

Preparation work ahead of the construction of the controversial prison began on the site adjacent to HMP Gartree in the summer and is now being stepped-up.

It will take just over four years to build and once open the jail will accommodate 1,700 male prisoners. across seven housing blocks.
