Power Surge Damages Residents’ Boilers & Electricals

A power surge has left residents in Market Harborough with damaged electrical appliances and broken boilers.

It happened on the Farndale View estate, off Lubenham Hill on Monday morning and was caused by a fault with an underground cable.

Radios and televisions were among other items damaged on the estate of over 50 homes.

National Grid Electricity Distribution has pledged to repair broken appliances and has arranged a company working on its behalf to visit the homes of those affected.

Pete Hickey has been unable to use the boiler at his home since Monday and spoke to HFM:

The power surge also caused electricity supplies to be cut the estate for several hours.

A spokesperson for National Grid Electricity Distribution told HFM: “As a result of this incident, we have arranged routine safety checks at a handful of properties, as well as associated repairs to any appliances.

“We’re sorry for the inconvenience caused. “
