Police Trial Hand-Held Defibrillators

Leicestershire Police is one of the first forces in the country to give some officers hand-held defibrillators.

Neighbourhood officers and members of the Rural Policing and motorbike teams are taking part in a trial of the life-saving devices.

It is being described as a ‘game changer’ for Policing, with officers able to make use of the defibs much quicker when they come across a medical emergency, instead of having to access the larger ones located in the community or wait for a police vehicle with one on-board.

The county’s Police and Crime Commission Rupert Matthews says the move will help ‘save lives.’
