Police Officers Assaulted In Market Harborough

One Police officer was headbutted and another kicked in the face while making an arrest in Market Harborough in the early hours of Saturday.

They had been called to reports of a man acting aggressively on the High Street just before 2am, after he was refused entry to a pub.

He turned violent as he was being detained.

The male officers suffered cuts and bruises but did not require hospital treatment.

An 18-year-old man from Lubenham was arrested for assaulting emergency workers and a public order offence.

He has been released under investigation.
