Acting Head Loses Appeal Against Sacking

The former acting headteacher of Leicester Grammar School in Great Glen has lost his appeal against dismissal for ‘professional misconduct’.

A panel made up of governors and an independent education professional has ruled the decision taken to sack James Rich in December was the correct one.

No details of the allegation have been revealed, although Leicestershire County Council say the school made a referral to their Safeguarding Officer, who took necessary action to safeguard pupils at the private school.

The school says the officer also consulted with the Police, who deemed it not a matter they would investigate.

The school has reported Mr Rich, who’d worked there for six years, to the Teaching Regulation Agency, which investigates teacher misconduct.
