Police Mount Operation Targeting Shop Thieves
Written by HFM News on 8th December 2018
Police are this weekend mounting an operation targeting shoplifters in Market Harborough.
Some officers will be in plain clothes as part of the move – aimed at catching thieves taking advantage of busy shops in the run-up to Christmas.
They are working closely with CCTV operators and shop staff, via the Harborough Against Retail Theft radio system.
There have been 365 thefts from shops in the town centre in the year ending October 31st – that represents a 25% increase in shoplifting compared with the previous 12 months, with on average one theft being reported a day.
