Police Hand File To CPS After Cyber-Attack At Market Harborough School
Written by HFM News on 7th June 2021
Detectives investigating a major cyber-attack on a Market Harborough school’s IT systems have handed a file to the Crown Prosecution Service.
Prosecutors will now decide if a man, arrested in connection with the major hack at Welland Park Academy in January, will be charged.
The ‘sophisticated cyber-attack’ during lockdown prevented remote lessons taking place for nearly a week and affected personal computers belonging to over 90 students.
Police arrested the 28 year old man from Wellingborough under section 1 and 3 of the Computer Misuse Act – he was released under investigation after being questioned.
Officers are thanking school staff, parents and pupils for their support and cooperation during the investigation.
