Police Alerted After ‘Loud Bangs’ Concern Residents

Police were alerted by concerned residents after loud bangs were heard in Market Harborough last night. 

The Leicestershire force received calls just after 10.15pm.

The noise, described as sounding like gunshots by some, woke up young children and spooked animals.

An officer was dispatched and confirmed the source of the noise was fireworks being set-off in the King’s Road area of the town.

A Police spokesperson told HFM: “We did receive calls at around 10.20pm. An officer who was already in the area confirmed that it was fireworks. Reassurance and advice was provided to the callers.”
