Plea Over Panic-Buying At Supermarkets

Twelve supermarket chains have come together to release a joint statement urging customers not to panic buy amid the Coronavirus outbreak.

They include Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Co-op, Aldi and Lidl, whose stores in Market Harborough have seen a surge of people buying high quantities of certain items, like toilet rolls, soap, hand sanitisers and pasta, leaving shelves empty.

Stores have been introducing limits on the number of particular items customers can buy at one time, in a bid to prevent stock shortages.
