Plan To Shut Desborough Library Put On Hold

A decision to close Desborough Library – together with 20 others across Northamptonshire – has been put on hold.
Crisis-hit Northamptonshire County Council says it has ‘paused’ the decision that would have seen the libraries close at the end of September.
It had asked community groups to express interest in taking over the running of them and says more work is needed to examine the response.
That can’t currently take place though after a notice was issued banning all but essential spending at the authority until further notice.
The outcome of a legal challenge on the closure of Desborough Library is also awaited.
