The plan to build a new primary school in Market Harborough has moved forward.

Leicestershire County Council has submitted a planning application for the £3m development on the Airfield Farm housing estate, off Leicester Road.

If given the go-ahead, the 210-place school would be built on land on land between Airfield Road and Owen Way and would be the first new school in the town in over 20 years.

The council will use developer funding to pay for the facility and is currently searching for an Academy Provider to run it.

The school is planned to open next September, initially for reception year children and design of the building would allow for future expansion, to accommodate over 400 pupils.
