Plan For New Parking Payment System At Foxton Locks

Written by on 6th January 2022

Plans have been announced for a new parking payment system at Foxton Locks.

The Canal and River Trust wants to introduce ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) technology in its two car parks at the popular attraction, to replace the current pay and display method.

New payment machines would also allow visitors to pay for parking by card or via their mobile, as well as with cash or coins.

The charity says there are no immediate plans to increase parking charges as part of the plans, which need to be approved by Harborough District Council.

A spokesperson for the Trust told Hfm: “We’re keen to invest in new ANPR machines to improve people’s experience when they visit Foxton Locks.

“The new machines will save visitors having to rummage around for change and will also provide a more reliable service than the ones they replace.

“If successful we hope the new machines will really enhance the site and make a visit to Foxton Locks easier and more enjoyable.”
