Plan For New Accommodation For Homeless Moves Forward

The plan for new temporary accommodation for the homeless in Market Harborough has moved forward.
Harborough District Council has lodged a planning application to create it on Roman Way, near the Church Street junction.
If approved, a former house bought by the authority will be demolished and a three-storey building, containing nine studio apartments, would go up.

The council, which held an information event for people to find out more about the plan, says the new facility will help save on the cost of housing people on a temporary basis, with less reliance on expensive private accommodation.
Cllr Simon Whelband is cabinet member for housing and spoke to HFM:
