Passengers Stranded After Train Hits Cow

Passengers were stranded for nearly two hours after a train heading towards Market Harborough hit a cow on the tracks early this morning.
The incident involving a London-bound East Midlands Railway service happened at Kilby Bridge, between Wigston and Newton Harcourt, just before 7am.
The train was unable to move until just before 8.30am, while safety checks were carried out on the train and tracks.
The incident led to some disruption to other rail services.
The animal was killed in the incident.
