Parking Ban Considered For Market Harborough Street

Written by on 28th November 2022

Drivers could be banned from parking on parts of Walcot Road in Market Harborough following complaints from residents in the area.

Many people use the street to park before going into the town centre, which causes problems for those living there.

Leicestershire County Council is considering putting double yellow lines down on sections of the street, which backs onto the Commons Car Park.

A spokesperson told HFM: “We are aware of a number of complaints from residents living in and around Walcot Road about parking issues and have also received representation from the county council member for the area.

“In response to those concerns, we are carrying out an informal consultation on a proposed double yellow line scheme.

“The consultation ran for two weeks from 10-24 November. The feedback we received will be analysed and a decision on whether to proceed to the statutory Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) consultation stage of the process will be made in December.

“The double yellow lines would be introduced subject to a successful outcome of the TRO consultation.”
