Over 5,500 Drivers Caught Speeding On A4304

More roads in the Harborough District could have average speed cameras placed on them.

If follows a two-year trial in areas including Walcote, on the A4304 between Market Harborough and Lutterworth.

That has seen over 5,500 speeding tickets issued and the average speed of vehicles through the village cut from 35mph to 26mph in the 30-zone.

Leicestershire County Council is now looking at installing the safety measure at a further seven sites where communities have raised concerns about speeding traffic, and in consultation with Police.

There are on-going calls for cameras to be installed on the A6 bypass between Great Glen and Kibworth, where Police are regularly clocking drivers travelling at over 100mph.
