Over 50s Urged To Book Booster Jab As Covid Rates Rise

People aged 50 and above across Harborough can now get an autumn covid booster vaccine.

Covid rates are increasing and NHS leaders are encouraging people to have the jab.

Anyone aged 5+ who is at high risk due to a health condition or weakened immune system, or if they live with someone who has a weakened immune system, is also eligible for the booster, as well as anyone who is:

• pregnant
• aged 16 and over and a carer, either paid or unpaid
• living or working in a care home for older people
• a frontline health and social care worker

Over 168,000 booster doses have already been given to people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland since the latest roll-out began and the NHS is also urging people eligible for a flu jab to get it too.

Dr Caroline Trevithick, Chief Nursing Officer and Deputy Chief Executive of the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Integrated Care Board ,spoke to HFM’s Nick Shaw about the importance of getting the booster jab:

People who are eligible for a flu vaccine may be able to have this at the same time as their autumn Covid booster.

You can book a book flu vaccination through your GP practice or by visiting a participating community pharmacy.
