Opening Of Harborough Estate’s First Shops Moves Closer

The opening of the first shops on a new housing estate in Market Harborough has moved a step closer.
Harborough District Council has given final approval for the creation of a ‘local centre’ on the Airfield Farm estate.

Planning permission was granted earlier this year and this week planning officers have given the final sign-off for scheme, after agreeing a ‘Section 106’ agreement, which details sums developers must pay for community infrastructure improvements.
It is hoped a national food retailer will open a convenience store in one of the two retail units which will be built, while a cafe and yoga studio are planned for others.
The development on land off Harvest Road by Davidsons Developments Ltd will also include 13 apartments, 6 houses and parking.
