Hundreds Have Their Say On Tip Closure Plans

Hundreds of people have had their say on controversial plans to close three tips in Leicestershire – including the one in Market Harborough.
Less than two weeks after a public consultation began into the cost-saving proposals, the county council has received 1,528 responses.
The Recycling and Household Waste Site on Riverside could close next October if the plan goes ahead, leaving residents having to travel to the next nearest site in Kibworth to dump rubbish.

Residents, councillors and Harborough MP Neil O’Brien have all voiced objections to the plan.
The authority is also proposing reducing opening hours at all the county’s sites during summer months.
It says no final decision has yet been made and is encouraging people to continue to have their say via its website, until January 24th.
