Opening Hours To Be Cut At Market Harborough Tip

Market Harborough tip will switch to part-time opening from October.

The Recycling and Household Waste site on Riverside will be available to residents for three days a week – Thursday to Saturday – compared to the current five-day opening.

Leicestershire County Council has approved the change at a meeting today, which is seen as a compromise following mass opposition to an initial plan to shut the facility completely, as part of cost-cutting.

The days the tip in Kibworth is open will reduce from five to four as part of the plan to keep the Market Harborough facility open and ensure a seven day a week opening across both sites.

Summer opening hours at all the county’s Recycling and Household Waste Sites will be reduced from April 2025 as part of changes, which will save the council £300,000 per year.

They will also be closed on Christmas Eve.
