Kibworth tip is now open one less day a week, but still available on the days the Harborough site is closed.
The changes are part of measures to save Leicestershire County Council £300,000 a year and are seen as a compromise to an initial plan to shut the Market Harborough tip completely, which led to widespread criticsm.
Councillor Blake Pain, cabinet member for the environment and green agenda “The new arrangements for the operation of our recycling and household waste sites balance the needs of our residents alongside our need to save money.
“We held two public consultations and listened to what people in the county who use these sites had to say.
“The feedback we received from the public was vital in revising and shaping our final proposals and I’m grateful for everyone’s input.”
Winter opening hours will come into force at all tips tomorrow, with the sites to be open between 9am and 4pm on the days they are open.
