Noise Warning As Overnight Work On Railway To Begin

People living near the railway in Market Harborough are being warned of noise disruption for the next two nights.
Network Rail is continuing work to prepare for the electrification of the line by installing overhead masts to the north of the railway station, which requires loud pile-driving.

The firm has apologised in advance but says the work needs to take place overnight, when no trains are running.
A spokesman said: “We will be using a piling rig, road rail vehicles and heavy on-track plant. Depending on ground conditions, an average pile will take between 20 and 60 minutes to install.”
“We will make every effort to minimise any unnecessary noise and brief our teams regarding working responsibly within the local community.”
The latest phase of the multi-million pound project is on the stretch of track from Market Harborough to Wigston, through The Langtons and Kibworth.
