No Trains Through Market Harborough This Weekend

Written by on 24th November 2023

There will be no train services through Market Harborough this weekend because of engineering works connected with the electrification of the line.

The route between Leicester and Kettering will be closed tomorrow and on Sunday, with a replacement bus service operating to take passengers north to Leicester and south to Kettering, where they can re-join East Midlands Railway services.

Network Rail are continuing to work on the electrification of the tracks

Trains have been cancelled for the past two Sundays because of the engineering works and Gavin Crook, Principal Programme Sponsor for Network Rail’s East Midlands Route, said: “Our teams have worked extremely hard over the past two weekends and great progress has been made as we continue to deliver the Midland Main Line Upgrade.

“We want to thank passengers for their patience whilst we complete this work and apologise for any disruption caused.

“We’re urging passengers to check their journey before they travel via National Rail Enquiries or their train operator’s website”.

  • No East Midlands Railways services will be running on Saturday December 2nd due to strike action by the ASLEF Union.
