Network Rail workers begin to dig new track bed at Market Harborough railway station

The next phase of the major upgrade of Market Harborough Railway Station and the railway leading to it has begun.

Work has started to dig out the new track bed to straighten the line through the station and to strengthen bridges in the town as part of the Line Speed Improvement Project.

It’ll mean no trains will be running this weekend – with buses replacing services.

The Kettering Road bridge is being worked on for the next two weeks, meaning the road is shut there.

The transformation, costing £54m, will also eventually see new platforms and better disabled access.

Residents wishing to find out more about the scheme, as well as the latest work taking place, are invited to a public information event on Wednesday, October 24th between 2pm and 7pm.

The event will take place in the booking hall at Market Harborough railway station.

Representatives from Network Rail will be on hand to answer any questions which residents may have.
