New Shops for Town Car Park?

New shops could be built in part of the Commons Car Park in Market Harborough.

The area has been identified for a mixed use retail development of at least one thousand square metres in Harborough District Council’s draft Local Plan – which maps out new home and business sites over the next 16 years.

It states it would have to be sensitively designed in order to conserve and enhance the conservation area, have to provide safe and attractive pedestrian links to the wider town centre and be sensitive to the River Welland, which runs beside the site.

Additional car parking would also have to be created elsewhere if there is any loss of spaces on the site.
