A new project will be launched to help the Armed Forces community across the Harborough District, thanks to funding of £25,000.
Harborough District Council worked in partnership with Rutland County Council and South Kesteven District Council, to secure the funding, which will be used to fund a 12-month project entitled ‘Making Our Covenant Count,’ to strengthen support for serving units and significant veteran populations.
Cllr Rani Mahal, Harborough District Council’s Armed Forces Champion, said: “We are delighted to receive this funding which will provide a positive boost to the work we’re already doing to support our Armed Forces community, led by our shared Armed Forces officer.
“It will build on our recent success in achieving the Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award recognising our support towards the Armed Forces community and help us prepare for additional duties which are set to come out of the Armed Forces Bill, currently working its way through Parliament.”
The grant has come from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust charity.
