New Primary School For Market Harborough Set To Open Next Year

Plans for a new primary school in Market Harborough are moving forward.
A planning application is set to be lodged soon and subject to approval, it will welcome its first pupils next year.
The school will be built by Leicestershire County Council on land off Airfield Road on the Airfield Farm site, where hundreds of homes have gone up over the past few years.
It is expected to initially open to reception year children.

A council spokesperson told HFM: “We are working on plans for the new school on the allocated land within the housing development on Airfield Farm.
“We’ve appointed a design and build contractor to support development so we can shortly submit a planning application.
“We’re hoping for the school to be ready by September 2024, subject to planning approval.
“An Academy provider will be appointed, and it’s expected that the school will initially accommodate early years places.”
Housing developers will contribute over £3m towards the cost of the school, which was a condition of the planning permission granted for the site.
