New Homes Earmarked For Leicester Could Be Built In Harborough District

Nearly 2,000 new homes earmarked for Leicester could have to be built in the Harborough District.
A lack of suitable land in the city means other areas of the county have a legal obligation to take on some of the shortfall over the next 14 years.
The proposal would see 123 extra houses built across the District each year until 2036, in addition to Harborough’s own annual target of 534.
Councillors will consider to so-called ‘Statement of Common Ground’ next month.
Council Leader Phil King spoke to Hfm:
Leicester City Council says it had been struggling to meet its housing target for the period even before the Government increased its required provision by 35% in 2020.
