New employment initiative in the Harborough District

Written by on 18th August 2023

It is hoped that jobless people in the Harborough District will soon be able to move a step closer to employment thanks to a brand new initiative.Called “HIRE” – Helping Improve Rural Employability – it is a programme for individuals who’re ‘economically inactive’ meaning they’ve not  looked for work in the last four weeks and/or aren’t available to start a job within the next two weeks.Developed by Harborough District Council, it’ll be delivered by the Rural Community Council, offering one-to-one help to return to the workplace. This includes confidence building, writing a CV, interview technique and matching people’s skills to jobs.Free outreach sessions are being held for the HIRE programme – from 2 til 4pm on August the 31st and September the 7th at Fleckney Library. You can find more details at www.ruralcc.org.uk/hire/
