New 350-Home Estate In Market Harborough Recommended For Approval

Written by on 9th June 2021

A massive new housing estate on the edge of Market Harborough could get the go-ahead next week.

Planning officers are recommending councillors grant planning permission for 350 homes on 36 acres of fields off Eady Drive, between Northampton Road and the Brampton Valley Way, east of the Blackberry Grange estate.

The land is identified for housing development in Harborough District Council’s local plan, although there are concerns it will increase traffic congestion on Northampton Road.

A mix of houses and bungalows will be built if the scheme is approved, including 128 affordable homes, available for rent and part ownership.

A document submitted to Harborough District Council on behalf of the applicant says: “The site east of Blackberry Grange in Market Harborough presents an exciting opportunity to deliver much needed homes for the local community in a landscape-led site framework.”

The Council’s Planning Committee will consider the application on Tuesday.
