More New Homes Proposed for Harborough

An application’s been made to construct up to 230 new homes as part of a major, greenfield development in the north of the Harborough District.
Parker Strategic Land Ltd has lodged outline plans to build on fields to the north and south of the A47 Uppingham Road at Houghton on the Hill.
The site currently comprises agricultural land, hedgerows and trees – but has previously been earmarked by Harborough District Council for major development.
A statement filed on behalf of the applicant says: “As a deliverable site, this proposal can aid in the delivery of much-needed new homes in the district.”
If approved, as well as hundreds of new houses, there would be shops, a GP surgery and a 70-bed residential care home.
