Young people across Harborough make-up most of the District’s new Coronavirus cases.

Public Health bosses also say around 80% of infections are the faster-spreading Delta Variant.

They are urging caution as rates continue to rise in the District, although remain below the national average.

There have been 35 new cases in the past week, the majority in 10-19 year olds.

The weekly infection rate is 38.4 per 100,000 people – more than three times the number at the end of last month.

Mike Sands, Director of Public Health for Leicestershire, spoke to Hfm:

Meanwhile, 80% of adults in the Harborough District have now had one Covid vaccine and 60% both doses.

Latest figures show just over 111,200 jabs have been given here since December; 63,459 have had one dose and 47,781 two.
