Meeting Held Ahead Of Showground Festival

A multi-agency meeting has taken place ahead of a religious festival returning to Market Harborough Showground.

The ‘Light and Life Church Convention’ is set to attract around 3,000 members of the gypsy and traveller community in hundreds of caravans.

It will run from July 19th until July 25th.

Representatives from councils, police and residents met with event organisers in a bid to ensure the smooth operation of traffic management.

County councillor David Page, who respresents Market Harborough West and Foxton, organised the meeting.

He said he wants to ensure the visitors to the festival feel welcomed to the town, while working to ensure residents are not disproportionately inconvenienced during the week:
