A massive new development on the edge of Market Harborough is starting to take shape.

Initial infrastructure and earthworks are on-going at the 88 acre site off Kettering Road at Clack Hill, with some roads also created.

Eventually 600 houses, a primary school, doctors surgery and community centre will be built on the site, which stretches towards Braybrooke, and will be known as ‘Overstone Park’.

Work to build a new roundabout at the site entrance will start soon, along with improvements to the near-by Kettering Road/A6 junction, a well-known accident blackspot, where a new roundabout will also be constructed.

Davidsons Homes are behind the development, the initial phase of which will see 164 houses built, 56 of which will be ‘affordable’ homes.

A spokesperson for the developer told Hfm: “We’re pleased to say that our development for 600 homes, a primary school and local centre on the site off Kettering Road is progressing well.

“So far, we have undertaken 12 months of archaeological works followed by initial earthworks and infrastructure works which are ongoing.

“We will be moving to the next phase with the new roundabout at the site entrance and improvements to the junction on the A6 programmed to start in May and scheduled to last for about 28 weeks.

“We will then be seeking to take forward the first phase of residential development which adjoins Coleridge Way.”
