Market Harborough Tip Opening To Revert Back To Five Days A Week

The days Market Harborough tip is open will be reduced from early next month.

The Household Waste and Recycling Site on Riverside has been open seven days a week for the last six months, to compensate for the closure of Kibworth Tip, which is being re-vamped.

But from June 9th it will be shut again on Thursdays and Fridays, as Leicestershire County Council needs to free-up staff to man another site in the Melton area.

Cllr Blake Pain, cabinet member for the environment and the green agenda,  said: “Unfortunately, we are still at the mercy of national pressures on recruitment of operatives and drivers, so when we make a change to waste opening in one part of the county it has a knock-on effect in another.”

“We are doing everything we can to overcome recruitment problems, but the situation is still difficult.”
