Market Harborough Building Society is celebrating its best ever financial results as its Chief Executive announces he will step down later this year.
Pre-tax profits reached more than £5m last year, the biggest in the society’s history, and new mortgage business increased to a record-breaking £132m.
Mark Robinson, who has been Chief Executive since 2007, will retire in the autumn and commenting on the financial results said: “2021 was a very successful year for MHBS and I am proud of everything the team has achieved.
“We have consistently used our financial strength to give our savers better rates at the same time as delivering “top three” profits. Our mortgage service has solved many borrowers’ complex needs in a market impacted by the pandemic.”
The Building Society’s Charitable Foundation awarded over £25,000 to community groups last year and donated over £7,000 to the Air Ambulance Service, its Charity Of The Year.
Mr Robinson added: “Despite Covid our team cheerfully maintained high standards of care for all our members and partners and our commitment to local communities remained strong.
“This year will be my last as CEO as I retire in the autumn and I’m delighted we also received a coveted 2022 Feefo Gold Trusted Service Award in recognition of the outstanding service consistently provided to intermediaries.”
