A discarded cigarette is thought to have started a fire that damaged the outside of a house in Desborough on Saturday night.
Firefighters dealt with the blaze in Hawfinch Green and provided first aid to the resident, a man, who suffered minor burns to his hands.
Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service say the fire caused damage to fascias, guttering and a window frame, when it spread from cardboard boxes that set alight in the back garden.
Firefighters from Desborough attended the incident and are urging people to ensure smoking materials are out fully, when they are disposed of.
The man did not require hospital treatment.
