Man Released After Road Sweeper Crashes On A6

A man arrested after a road sweeper overturned on the A6 near Great Glen yesterday has been released without charge.

The 51-year-old had been held by police on suspicion of drink driving, after the vehicle crossed onto the opposite carriageway and came to rest on its side yesterday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the scene near the Archers Roundabout just before 2pm.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police told HFM: “Officers were called to the A6 in Great Glen around 1.47pm yesterday (Tuesday 19 November) following a collision.

“A HGV crossed the central reservation and landed on its side.

“A 51-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving but has since been released no further action.”
