Man Fled To Market Harborough After ‘Frenzied’ Knife Attack

A man has admitted stabbing two men in a ‘frenzied’ attack before fleeing to a house in Market Harborough.

Kameron Grant-Smith attacked them following an argument, as they walking with their children in Leicester city centre on August 19th last year.

He was arrested the following day after extensive police enquiries led to him being found at an address in Market Harborough.

One of the victims was repeatedly stabbed as he lay on top of his child to protect her and is still receiving treatment for his injuries.

The second victim was slashed on the arm and hand while carrying his son.

As a trial began at Leicester Crown Court yesterday, Grant-Smith, 29, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to two counts of grievous bodily harm with intent and one count of possession of a bladed article in a public place following the incident in Bay Street.

He will be sentenced on Friday.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Katherine Dabrowska, said: “Grant-Smith carried out a vicious and frenzied attack on two men, in broad daylight, while they were with their children.

“After committing the offence, he fled the scene and abandoned the car in an attempt to avoid being caught. Following quick police work Grant-Smith was identified as the person responsible for the attack and he was located at an address the next day.

“I am pleased he has at now admitted his actions and the families can begin to move past this traumatic event.

“Carrying a knife has huge consequences and this horrific incident is a clear example of not only the harm it can do to a victim but also the price a perpetrator can pay. Because of Grant-Smith’s actions that day he now faces time behind bars.”
