Major Repairs To Begin At Market Hall

Major work costing over £700,000 begins this week to upgrade the roof and windows at the Market Hall in Market Harborough.
Scaffolding will be erected outside the building on Northampton Road to allow for it to take place, although the venue will remain open as usual.

Some of the Market Hall car park will be closed for the duration of the works, which are being funded by Harborough District Council and are expected to take around 12 weeks.
The work is needed because the original tiled roof on the 32-year-old building has cracks and leaks, which cause problems for traders and shoppers.
The entrance to the building off the car park will also be closed, but both the Northampton Road and St Mary’s Place entrances will be unaffected.
Other work to replace the ageing traders’ lift at Harborough Market has been put back until the New Year, so it does not disrupt the Christmas trading period.
The £400,000 project was facing delay until December due to a long lead-time in sourcing parts and the district council has agreed to postpone it following consultation with stallholders.
