Lutterworth Rower Wins Gold At Olympic Games

Lutterworth rower Lauren Henry has won gold at the Olympic Games in Paris.

The 22-year-old secured a fantastic victory for Team GB with her crew in the women’s quadruple sculls.

The team of Lauren, Hannah Scott, Lola Anderson and Georgina Brayshaw chased the Netherlands right into the last hundred metres, before crossing the line just 0.15 seconds ahead, in a dramatic photo finish.

Lauren joined Leicester Rowing Club when she was 13 and is the youngest member of the Team GB rowing quad.

Speaking after the win, she said: “We will always have belief until we cross that finish line. I felt we’d won it but it was not until I looked at the big screen and saw ‘GBR 1’ that I could believe it, and that moment was ecstatic.”

It is the first gold medal Team GB has ever won in the event.
