Low Turn-Out In Commissioner Elections

Less than a quarter of people in the Harborough District eligible to vote did so in the Leicestershire Police and Crime Commissioner election.
The turnout figure for the council area was 22.2%.
Counting is underway at Harborough Leisure Centre following yesterday’s local ballot, with the numbers to be added to those from across the county and city.
The overall result will be declared in Leicester later this afternoon.

The turnout was also low in Northamptonshire, where residents are electing a Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner.
The figure for the North Northamptonshire Council area was 18.1%, while in West Northamptonshire it was 21%.
The overall result will also be announced later this afternoon.
