Kibworth Pub’s Marquee Blown Away In Strong Winds
Written by HFM News on 4th May 2021
The Railway Arms pub in Kibworth has closed temporarily after its marquee blew away in the strong winds last night.
The structure, which lifted despite being bolted down, ended up in a precarious position, partly stuck on the roof of a neighbouring property in Station Street, although no-one was injured.

The Fire Service was called just after 7pm, because of the danger the marquee posed, and crews spent over an hour disassembling it, before bringing it safely to the ground.
Guttering on the property, which was damaged, was also made safe.
The footpath on the road nearby was closed as a precaution while the work took place.
A spokesman for the Railway Arms told Hfm the marquee, which was for customers to use while being served outside, was damaged beyond repair, but plans are being put in place to re-open on Thursday, with a new marquee or alternative.
The pub is also updating its risk assessments, to ensure the safety of customers and staff.
