Judges Praise Harborough’s In Bloom Volunteers During Tour Of Town

The work of Market Harborough’s volunteer gardeners has been praised by judges from the East Midlands In Bloom competition.

They toured town yesterday to look at floral displays and other parts of Market Harborough In Bloom’s entry into the large town category of the contest, which they won last year.

The judges visited the Stevens Street allotments, Canal Basin, St Luke’s Hospital, Ridgeway Primary Academy, the town centre, Railway Station, Memorial gardens, Millennium Mile and Welland Park.

Judge Richard Stephen spoke to HFM at the end of the tour:

Volunteers have planted over 3000 plants in displays across the town, including 13 new barrier planters installed on the platforms at the railway station.

Market Harborough In Bloom is thanking other community groups, businesses, schools and Harborough District Council’s contractor FCC, for their help with this year’s entry in to the competition.

The results of the competition will be announced in September and the In Bloom team is now preparing for the visit of judges from Britain In Bloom, after Market Harborough was selected to represent the East Midlands in the national contest.
